U-SWAB™ MRSA
Triple Swab
Proper sample collection and transport using U-SWAB™ MRSA Triple Swab is essential for reliable results. Follow the steps below to help ensure accurate testing and informed clinical decisions.

This pack includes a vial, a red swab with no markings, a blue swab with 2 black marks and a white swab with a single black mark.
1.
Clear any nasal discharge by blowing your nose.
2.
Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water, then dry them.
3.
Open the peel pouch and remove the tube of media, unscrew the cap and place it on a clean surface.
Remove the RED swab from the pouch. Do not pre-moisten the swab
4.
Take RED swab, with no black marks, and rub it along the RIGHT groin rubbing from front to back 2-3 times.
Repeat the process with the LEFT groin rubbing from front to back 2-3 times.
5.
Place the RED swab into the tube.
6.
Rub and squeeze bud of RED swab against the inside of the tube.
7.
Remove the RED swab from the tube and discard.
8.
Remove the BLUE swab with 2 black marks from the peel pouch. Rub over the LEFT armpit rubbing back and forth 5 times, repeat with the RIGHT armpit.
9.
Repeat steps 3, 4 & 5.
Place BLUE swab into tube. Rub/squeeze bud against inside of tube. Discard BLUE swab.
10.
Bring WHITE swab with 1 black mark to tip of nose, avoiding contact with external skin.
Insert swab approx. 2cm into one nostril.
11.
Gently rotate inside nostril for 3-5 seconds. Repeat process for the other nostril using the same swab.
12.
Place the WHITE swab fully into the tube.
Carefully bend the WHITE swab against the tube until it breaks. Discard non-swab end.
13.
Tube now contains ONLY the WHITE swab.
14.
Firmly screw cap back onto tube. Tube should only contain media and WHITE swab.
15.
Thoroughly wash your hands with soap and water, then dry them.
Fill in the required details on the tube label and place them into the bag provided.
Return to the healthcare provider.
