The Efficacy/Compatibility Of Liquid Transport Devices On The Filmarray® Platform

MWE liquid swabs, including SIGMA-VIROCULT®, SIGMA-VCM™ and SIGMA-FECAL TRANSWAB®, demonstrate full compatibility with the FilmArray® System for multiplex PCR detection of bacterial and viral pathogens across respiratory, gastrointestinal, and blood culture panels. All targets were successfully detected with no evidence of inhibitory effects, supporting reliable molecular performance. The findings highlight the suitability of liquid swab systems, particularly rectal and faecal swabs, for rapid, non-invasive sampling, improving workflow efficiency and enabling timely diagnosis in settings where traditional specimen collection (e.g. stool samples) may be challenging.
