Evaluation of SIGMA-TRANSWAB® in Liquid Amies Transport Medium for Neisseria gonorrhoeae Culture

Accurate detection of Neisseria gonorrhoeae relies on effective specimen collection and transport. In this clinical evaluation, SIGMA-TRANSWAB® in Liquid Amies medium outperformed direct inoculation onto LCAT culture plates, delivering a 14% increase in organism recovery and identifying additional positive cases that would otherwise have been missed. The transport system also supported faster culture identification in some specimens and offered practical advantages through easier storage and stock management. These findings demonstrate the value of SIGMA-TRANSWAB® in improving both diagnostic accuracy and laboratory efficiency for gonococcal culture testing.
